Hello Haigh Families,
I cannot believe our spring testing is upon us already… What a year it has been, I am so proud of the growth I have seen in all our Owls this school year! The Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress (M-STEP) testing window for this school year will be April 8th- May 17th.
Students in grades 3rd-5th will take the English Language Arts and the Mathematics assessments, which will include both open-ended responses and multiple choice questions. The Science and Social Studies tests will be given to our 5th grade students only. The Science and Social Studies assessments will only include multiple choice questions. Please see Haigh’s M-STEP assessment schedule on the back of this paper. *Please note, you will also see some dates for iReady testing. 5th graders will be taking iReady first to ensure proper assessments have been completed for timely STEM applications.
Students are not permitted to have cellphones, smart watches or bluetooth headphones in the classroom during testing times. Students are asked to keep ALL electronic devices at home on testing days. If they do bring them to school they will have to store their devices in their lockers. The school is not responsible for electronic devices being stored in lockers. If a student is caught with an electronic device in the classroom during testing, this could put their test results as well as the test results of others in jeopardy. If your child has a wired/“plug-in” pair of headphones, they may use them during testing.
The teachers, staff and your students have been working so hard this year, and this is an opportunity for students to show off all of the great things that they have been learning!
We kindly ask for your support in ensuring that your child is ready to test on their scheduled day(s). Please review some simple things below that can help set up your child for success:
- Get a good night’s sleep the night before the test!
- Start your test day with a positive attitude and a healthy breakfast!
- Be on time for school every morning and ready to go!
