Needed Winter Gear ~ Especially BOOTS!

Hello Haigh Families,

We have definitely seen a change in the weather over the last couple of days and know that official Michigan winter is quickly approaching!  With that in mind, it is important to reflect on our Owls being prepared for outdoor recesses on a daily basis. This means being prepared for not only cold weather, but snowy weather and grounds as well.  With limited black top space available since construction has begun, students will be playing on grassy and snowy areas during recess. These areas can get muddy, snowy, and pools of icy water may collect. Because of this, we ask that students have the following items in order to be worn for all outdoor recesses moving forward:

  • Boots (these should NOT be worn as indoor shoes) Students need to change into their boots for outdoor recess. We recommend a plastic bag for when they are not on your child’s feet.  We don’t want mud and water being tracked around the classrooms and hallways.  It gets slippery and dangerous on the tile floors.
  • Hats
  • Gloves/Mittens

If you are unable to provide these items at this time, please reach out to the PTA, the Main Office or your child’s teacher so that we can help with getting them all suited up!

If you are able to donate hats, gloves, coats, boots or a monetary donation to help secure items for our building “closet” for those who may be in need, we would greatly appreciate it! Our “Giving Tree” will be set up again this year in the Main Lobby!

Thank you,

The Haigh PTA
