Haigh Elementary School

Updates from Haigh, 2-15-21

Afternoon Haigh Community,

I hope that everyone is having a good 4-day weekend 🙂 Due to the expected snow accumulations of 5-7 inches , we are going to cancel our WIDA testing tomorrow to keep everyone safe. Our WIDA testing team will reach out to our families to reschedule these assessments.

I am also working on an informative video that I will share out to our families later this evening or early tomorrow morning. I am covering many topics of the Hybrid Model and also want to have it as a resource that is always available on our blog. Topics will include- A and B schedules, student and staff PPE, weekly schedules, student resources, cleaning and sanitizing of rooms, lunch, snack, arrival, dismissal, etc.. Please note that tomorrow afternoon(Tuesday, the 16th) we will let our families know if their student(s) are an “A-Day” or “B-Day” student. In my video I will provide much more details on the ins and outs of the Hybrid model so that we can all prepare together. I will also be going over details tomorrow at the Haigh PTA meeting at 4:00pm. You can join this “Zoom Meeting” by using the follow link click here.

Overall, I am excited to see the students start coming back to Haigh! This week we will start slow with learning labs groups scheduled on Thursday and Friday. These meetings will be important because we are going over many of the routines and procedures of the hybrid model with our students. Next week we will continue with live instruction on Zoom in the mornings and learning labs groups in the afternoon. Then on Monday, March 1st we will start the Hybrid model with our K-2 students. 3rd-5th grade students will stay remote this week, then start their Hybrid Model instruction on March 8th. Again, more details will be shared in the video and letter that I am putting together for our community. As always I appreciate everyone’s help and support as we transition to this new model. Have a great day and stay warm! Keep those snow blowers handy 🙂
