Dearborn votes “Yes” on school millage.

superintendent

The following is part of an e-mail from our Superintendent.

Our community once again gave all of us a very clear sign they believe in the work we are doing here in the Dearborn Public Schools.  The overwhelming margin of victory (16,029 total YES votes vs 8,124 total NO votes) in the Hold Harmless RENEWAL is more than a vote to renew a millage; it is a vote of confidence in the work we are doing to provide our students with a quality education.

The dedication to the students in the classroom is the real reason our community believes in our district and supports our work.  If we didn’t care, if we didn’t put our best foot forward every single day, there wouldn’t be the support we see from our community.  That level of compassion and care does not come overnight, it comes when hard working people come to work each day and give their all.  I am honored to be the Superintendent in this district and to be able to work with such an outstanding group of professionals.

I hope all of you will join me in welcoming two new Board members and one former Board member to our Dearborn Public Schools family.  Ms. Mariam Bazzi, Mr. Michael Meade, and Ms. Mary Petlichkoff received the most votes in last night’s School Board race and will join the Board of Education on January 1, 2015. Congratulations to them and to all the candidates for wanting to help the children in our district and be a part of the Dearborn Public Schools.  I look forward to working with our new Board members.
